Sticks & stones is an exhibition of work made in the short time Jordan Evans - Viney had a studio at the tattoo shop, Dust N Bones. Jordan's work consists of paintings, photos and the launch of his Sticks & stones fanzine.
Whilst working at the shop Jordan invited other artists to put there work into the show, these artists showing work include- Neil Pengilley, Nick Wallace, Sopie Gibbons, William Hibberd.

STCIKS & STONES. - Friday, 26 february 2010, 7.00pm.

Our aim for the show is to produce a honest exhibtion of art that lets our friends or viewers see what we do, get pissed up and have some fun.

We got a lovely valentines card through the post from Andy Cooke today! The card was made by laser cutting into a slab of wood, 150x150mm, then hand pressed onto 350gsm off white cotton paper.

Sophie Dutton is running a pretty interesting project at the moment. Its probably best for me to let her tell you about it.

"Im putting my desktop up for rent. An investigation into digital space, value and wealth. Every week I will post the link to the Ebay auction so you can bid to design any wallpaper : type any slogan, opinion / lyrics / suggestion you like and have it displayed for 7 DAYS. I am a designer who’s laptop is overseen and observed by many others daily in and around London, Birmingham and Bristol, including my university, the Royal College of Art. I will be renting it out every seven days and documenting it progress here. An opportunity to get yourself or your work / thoughts seen."

Across the way, is an exhibition featuring four wonderfully talented Bristol based illustrators. Jack Hudson, Luke Jinks, Owen Gatley and Adam Hancher, will be exhibiting both 2D and 3D work illustrating a story of three cub scouts and an otter on an adventure to another Island! Sounds so good!

Ellie Bacon has been helping to produce, Issue One, which is a new Bristol-based publication created by a collaboration of artists and designers. The magazine we aim's to raise awareness of the South West’s vibrant cultural scene by not only highlighting individuals of interest, but also the culture within the region as a whole. The magazine itself is run as a volunteer project and is being led by UWE graduates Jack Smith and Rebecca Case. It is available online and also in print around bristol.

Last thursday was the opening night of the 'Self Psyche' show in Portland Oregon at the Pony Club. Jason Fischer curated the show, and this is what Jack Teagle created for the show, a 6x6" acrylic painting on canvas.

I can see him blowing up a little in the future and cannot help but compare his work to Anna Wolf the fashion and lifestyle photographer who has taken amazing photographs for clients such as Urban Outfitters, MTV and more recently, Target.

Do is a new-ish blog documenting the things Hello Dylan and Oli Kay do as Junior Fellows on the Graphic Design degree course at UWE, Bristol. They run projects, take photographs and do talks and things, the blog is generally interesting and has keeps me entertained with some really nice simple ideas backed up with minimal graphics, with some great use of type.

Look out for their print exchange project involving graphic design students from several invited universities, collaborating to forge links, share knowledge and ideas whilst giving students a platform to display their work.

Jack Hudson has some new work up on his blog including his pieces for an exhibition on the theme of FEAR at the Amersham Arms (New Cross) on the 7th December and at the Lock Tavern (Camden) on the 15th December curated by both Clinic Collective and Bear Gami.

The show also features Jack Teagle, Kate Copeland, and a possible new Just Us member Lydia Sheriff.

Jack's worst fear would be "a combination of all my allergies, Pollen, Chlorine and Cats placed into one situation that I hope will never occur, it would most likely be the end of me."

Also check out his image that tells the tale of a motorbike hero that helps to save a small English town from the evil secret police. For the the Secret Service exhibition at Rotopol in Kassel

Jack has also given an insight into how he produces some of his work. A few scans from the sketchbook work that was used to create the piece is on his blog and is really nice to see.

We are really pleased to say that Jessie Douglas has been getting loads of well deserved interest recently. Firstly she has a full feature in the graffiti and street art magazine VNA see more pictures of the magazine here.

Following this Jessie is exhibiting some of her prints in the Stolen Space Gallery which is situated at Dray Walk, The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL. She is in the 'Winter Warmers' Christmas 09 Group Show from the 04.12.09 - 20.12.09. Featuring all new works as well as exclusive print releases from our favourite notorieties and a few new faces for a taste of things to come in the new year. Jessie is alongside some big names such as Hellovon, Pete Fowler, D*Face and Mike Leavitt.

Jack Teagle win's "Draw me a Cover"

As you may know anorak magazine recently launched the 'Draw me a cover' competition in the Summer amongst art students from around the world. Anorak selected the best 20 from the many submissions and got together with their 'little art directors' friends at Arnold House School to pick the lucky winner.. Congrats to Jack Teagle!!

This is what the little art directors had to say about it: "it's colourful and cheerful. (...) It really stands out. (...) It's well drawn, detailed and bright in colours. (...) It's great because everyone enjoys snow fights. (...) It's interesting because you wouldn't normally see a fox wearing a jacket. (...) The blue white and green goes well with that size. (...) Good detail in the background." Ace!

In other Teagle news, Jack has just been published in Nobrow Issue 2: The Jungle which looks really good, I cant contain myself i really want to have it in my hands!

"Tigers That Talked" video by Hancher and Hudson

Adam Hancher and Jack Hudson have been keeping this one underwraps for a while plus I think im a little late telling you all this but they have been working on the new video entitled "Artificial Clouds" by the leeds based band Tigers That Talked Released October 2009 on Bad Sneakers Records. The track is taken from their forthcoming album The Merchant, released 2010 and produced by Adam Noble.

The video is a really good tale of beasts, bogs, and surreal happenings, which works perfectly with the running tune from Tigers That Talked. Watch it now!

A fair few Just Us members are creating L.P. sleeves for the kingston based trio tubelords forthcoming single, Propeller.

In Tubelords own words the idea goes something like this

Hello,

I'm currently exhibiting at the Village Underground in Shoreditch alongside other recent graduates from Camberwell's Graphic Design course.

The show is on until 13th July so there's time to make a visit! I'll forward a link to pictures when they're up.

Last night saw the opening of the first just us exhibition titled "KK Job Centre". The show was held at KK Outlet, London. Excellent night and a brilliant turn out, thanks to all that came along.
